Foreign Fire Insurance Board
The Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District Foreign Fire Tax Insurance Board is comprised of seven trustees. Six members are elected from among the full-time sworn employees of the District and the seventh is the Fire Chief. The Board is tasked with receiving the revenues from a 2% tax on fire insurance policies that are sold by foreign (out of the state of Illinois) insurance companies. The foreign fire insurance tax is paid by businesses located within the District’s boundaries and are collected by the Illinois Municipal League. The funds received are then paid to the Board’s Secretary/Treasurer and are used exclusively for the maintenance, use, and benefit of the Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District.
