This is where the public is taught various fire and life safety topics.  Our public education officer makes presentations in all of our schools, covering topics from calling 9-1-1 to cooking safety to first aid and CPR.  Presentations are done on a request basis to other adult and children’s groups in the community.  In the summer months an on-duty fire engine and ambulance are sent to local block parties where the residents can get an up close look at our equipment, and have an opportunity to ask any questions about our organization.

Educational Classes
CPR, AED and First Aid classes can be arranged for businesses or large groups. Please contact Anthony LaFemina at (630)910-2200, extension 500 or email at TLaFemina@dwfd.org.

Individuals needing CPR classes can go to Edward Hospital's site here.

Station Tours
Station tours are available to area schools, scout troops and other small groups. Station tours are at our headquarters facility (Station 89) only and consist of a guided tour of the entire station, training area and apparatus bay including vehicles. To set up a tour please contact Anthony LaFemina at (630)910-2200, extension 500 or email at TLaFemina@dwfd.org.

Block Parties
The Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District will attend your block party. Please contact Anthony LaFemina at (630)910-2200, extension 500 or email at TLaFemnina@dwfd.org. Crews will make every effort to attend and adhere to the times requested. However, these crews are on-duty personnel and emergency situations take precedent. This may delay or prevent our appearance at your event.

School & Scout Safety Programs
Our Public Education Team visits schools every year. We reach more than 5,600 children and spend over 550 hours teaching in the school system. For more information, please contact Anthony LaFemina at (630)910-2200, extension 500 or email at TLaFemina@dwfd.org.
