Proper Disposal of Fire Extinguishers

 Pressurized Water (2 ½ Gallon)
Discharge the extinguisher until completely empty and then properly dispose of with your normal refuse in accordance to your municipality.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
Discharge the extinguisher outside until completely empty and then and then properly dispose of with your normal refuse in accordance to your municipality.

Dry Chemical (Multi-Purpose or ABC)
Go outside to an open area.  Turn the extinguisher UPSIDE DOWN (this will dispel the gas, and not the dry chemical).  Have the wind at your back and discharge the extinguisher until completely empty, or there are no sounds heard coming from the extinguisher.  The remaining powder is primary a baking soda compound.  This can now be safely disposed of with your normal refuse in accordance to your municipality.
