The
Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District

The District serves portions
of Darien, Woodridge and unincorporated DuPage County. Approximate
District borders: North - Maple Avenue, South - I 55, East
- Cass Avenue, West - I 355. |
 |
Personnel
consists of 29 sworn, 25 part-time, 5 administrative, 5 elected trustees
and 3 appointed commissioners. Three
stations
manned 24 hours per day. Staffing is 13 personnel per shift maximum to
a minimum of 11 personnel.

Approximately
2,600 annual emergency
calls, 58% Emergency Medical Incidents, 42% Fire /
Service Incidents. In-district
average emergency incident response time is approximately 5 minutes. |

Maintains
19 vehicles, 1 ladder
truck with ALS equipment, 3 engines, 2 of which with ALS equipment for EMS calls, 1
rescue squad, 1 brush truck, 1 fire investigation unit, 1 Battalion Chief
vehicle, 3 ALS ambulances, and
8 other support vehicles. One
of the first in the region to provide advanced life support since 1979. |

Residential Fire Institution Life Safety Achievement Awards for 6 years in
recognition of no fire deaths and the Illinois Inspectors Awards
every year for the past 10 years for fire
prevention activity competition.

"Fire District of the Year" for two years by the Northern Illinois
Alliance of Fire Protection Districts for its progressive and innovative
approach to today's fire service.
